With songs that conjure up images of the cactus and desert roads of monument valley, denim jackets, old cars and trucks and a bottle of whiskey, Brisbane based guitar slinger and singer Dana Gehrman has just had the sort of year that most musicians can only dream about.
She was a finalist in the QLD Music Awards, sang on stage with the legendary Tim Rogers, toured in support of 3 time ARIA nominated alt country stalwarts The Wilson Pickers and graced the stage of numerous festivals. Armed with her old Fender telecaster and matching Fender amps, Dana takes no prisoners on stage while she brings her 70’s inspired songs to life with more panache and vitality than most rock n roll men could even dream of. We’re talking foot on the fold back, amps up loud and attitude to match.
Dana’s music is reminiscent of some of the great guitar wielding female singer songwriters like Bonnie Raitt and the Australian Mia Dyson, with whom she shared the stage in 2014.
This year Dana will be following up the success she had with her single “Under the Wire” with her debut LP which is due for release in August 2017. Stay tuned!
