Benn Gunn is the name you may be familiar with. A regular on the BNS Scene in regional New South Wales and Victoria, Benn has also been sang at just about every one of Australia’s Country Music festivals. Such as: Deni Ute Muster, Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre, Caboolture Urban Country Music Festival, Gympie Music Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Broadbeach Country Music Festival, Sydney Country Music Festival, Mud, Bulls & Music Festival, Canberra Country Music Festival, Central Coast Country Music Festival, Beauy Muster and Rock the Desert.
With so much experience under his belt, his current single; “Heavensville” is sure to be a successful one! On a trip to Nashville, Heavensville, was played to Benn and immediately he related the single to his home town – Kiama. A small coastal town in New South Wales. While it is rare for Benn to record a song he hasn’t written, this one just felt right. The film clip was shot by Klik Productions and partially sponsored by the Kiama Arts Council. Living in a breathtaking spot with a supportive community. Benn Gunn expected a warm reception for his single, and was pleasantly surprised when over 10,000 people viewed the video on Facebook and Youtube on the weekend of its release.
Talking to Benn recently, he described entering the country music scene when Garth Brooks and Keith Urban were shaking up “country” and setting new definitions for fellow artist. The self-taught guitarist (who now also teaches guitar lessons) has also won a few awards: Best New Talent in the 2011 Australian Independent Country Music Awards, nominated for Best New OZ Artist and Artist of the Year in the CMC Music Awards 2012, “Best New Artist” in the National Category of the Victorian Country Music Awards In 2014, MO Award for “Slim Dusty Country Act of the Year”.
